There are many ways to make customers aware of your current deals. From email campaigns reaching out to customers who have subscribed to your mailing list to sale posters in your store windows. In this blog post we will talk about some of the most effective digital and in person ways to notify clients about your upcoming and current promotions.

Email Campaigns

If you have a mailing list of current customers or people interested in your business this is arguably the best digital way to tell people able a promotion. A lot of newer businesses overlook the power of a good email campaign, they can be incredibly effective when done properly. A good email campaign will notify any person it is sent to that about your promotion while not pushing the sale too hard. Basically, you want to make them aware of the sale and make them feel like they are getting in on a good deal. Or, if your promotion is just to announce the arrival of a new product/ service make sure to talk about the new item and hype it up a little by explaining a bit about how it could benefit them.

Email campaigns also need to have catchy subject lines that won't get the email flagged automatically as an ad. The subject line should have a short and catchy sentence or question that explains a bit about what the email will be about and will make people interested in opening it. Something along the lines of "The Perfect Skincare Products for Every Skin Type" might be better than "The Best Skin Care Solution for Dry Skin". Both are actually good subject lines, but the first one will apply to more people than the second one will. The second subject line will only apply to people who have troubles with dry skin, and anyone who has oily skin or any another skin type will most likely disregard the email. In order to get the attention of more people the information in your email campaign should apply to more than one specific type of person. Unless your business is in a very specific niche, in that case you would want it to only apply to a very specific audience.

Social Media Posts

If you have a decent following on social media then posting about your new deals and promotions is a great way to inform your customers. However; if the majority of your followers aren't actually your clients or aren't located near your business it probably won't be super effective at drawing people in. For e-commerce businesses it doesn't really matter if your followers are from a different part of the world though since they can just buy your products online. But for smaller businesses that primarily sell products in stores social media campaigns might not always work super well. For local businesses make sure your target audience is for your area and ones close by, or you'll just be wasting time and you marketing budget.

Window Posters

For businesses where most of your traffic comes to you by foot window displays would be a great idea to advertise your promotions. They tend to be bright and eye catching to draw in people walking by your location. Many people who window shop will only go into stores that say there is a big sale going on.

Our store offers many ways to have widow posters. You can get custom fit and printed signs for your specific windows, or generic "SALE" poster sized flyers to stick up on. Customers aren't going to only check out your promotion if you have custom printed posters to advertise it, they just want a good deal. All a window poster need is to be seen, if it can be easily seen and read by foot traffic then it is doing a good job! As long as it is accurately displaying your current promotion in an eye catching manner that is.

Banner & Floor Stands

So now that you have brought customers into your store with email campaigns and window posters, you need to direct them to the items on clearance. Banner and floor stands will also help remind browsing customers of the deal while helping them navigate to the promotional products. You can also use floor stands to be more specific about the promotion and put the fine print on them after you have gotten people into the store.

Or as you can see in the middle photo below you can also station floor or banner stands outside to grab peoples attention. When you are advertising a promotion it is best to have a few different ways you are trying to catch people's attention. Advertising online is the easiest and cheapest way to advertise as all you need to do is make a post on your social media accounts talking about the deal. But if your business doesn't have a large or dedicated social media following and relies primarily on foot traffic then in person ads like posters and signs will be more effective in bringing people in.

Sandwich Boards

I know we have talked a lot about sandwich boards on this blog. and there is a good reason for that; they're great from almost anything! If you don't like the look of a banner stand or need something a bit more durable/ weather proof then they would be your best bet for advertising on sidewalks.
